Safeguarding Policy

I have years of experience and training in safeguarding children and young people and I am DBS Checked. I adhere to the BACP’s Ethical Framework and refer to guidance on safeguarding children and young people, which you can view here:

If I am worried about any child or young person I am working with, I will let them know when I am concerned about their safety and how we can work together to keep them safe. This might involve contacting their parent or carer, sharing information with my supervisor, making a referral to children’s services or if in immediate danger, calling emergency services.

If it is safe to do so, I will always discuss every step with the child or young people I work with and help them to be as in control of the process as they can be, for example, deciding what information they do and do not want to be shared or having a conversation with parents or carers together.
